General

  • This is my first time GM’ing, first time using Foundry VTT, and my first time using Worlds Without Number. Lots of firsts for me and other folks, so please be patient!
  • Expect things to be a little slower at the start here. Things should speed up once we have practiced with WWN mechanics and the VTT software.
  • I may mess up rules sometimes, so bring it up if I have. To keep things moving, I might just keep my initial ruling, but I’ll make sure to learn it for next time.
  • You may be distracted by other things as long as:
    • You are not in the current scene.
    • You are not in combat.
    • You are not expected to prepare anything (ex. shopping while RP is happening with others)
    • Being distracted is not impacting other player’s fun, nor are you making being distracted other people’s problem. (If this happens too much, we’ll have a talk).
  • A scheduled session will still happen if there are 4 players present (excluding the GM). The absent players will come with the group, but will be controlled by the GM. I won’t do anything drastic with them, they’ll effectively just act as support characters.

Encounters

  • Most of the smaller encounters, scenes, and NPC interactions will be done via ‘theater of the mind’ gameplay. This means there won’t be a battlemap, but you will still need to track your resources.
  • Larger encounters, ‘boss’ battles, or important encounters will have a battlemap using Foundry VTT. We’ll probably have to learn this as we go, so again, be patient as people learn how to use the software.

Boundaries

  • Please do NOT make fun of people roleplaying (yes this includes me). Roleplaying is a vulnerable thing, and we’re all new at it. We are going to suck. Don’t make it harder than it already is by making people feel stupid.
  • No ERP (erotic roleplay). Fade to black is ok, as long as it’s consistent with your character and the story. Try not to make sex, libido, or horn-dog behavior a key part of your character. It’s not the tone we’re looking for here.
  • Romance/marriage/love is okay, as long as it’s consistent to your character and the story. As always, run it by me first.

Mechanics

  • EXP: TODO
  • Roleplay well, do something cool, or be creative, and I’ll give you inspiration. You can use it to add +1 to a skill check, or +2 to an attack, It must be declared before the roll occurs. It can be carried between sessions, but you can only use one per roll.
